Colonial Shutters

The alternative to the ever popular plantation style shutters, interior colonial shutters, looks very similar to plantation style, but with much smaller slats and width. Both styles of shutters were introduced around the same time to help with interior home temperature control. The interior colonial shutters were introduces in cooler northern climates, while the plantation style shutters were introduced in the more tropical climates. The biggest differences between the two styles are the width and length of the slats. The plantation style shutters having wider and longer slats to allow more air in during the warmer summer months, while the interior colonial shutters being both shorter and narrower to better seal against the harsher northern climates.
